Suspicious death of an Ariégeois in Paraguay: investigation opened in France for murder

#TOULOUSE. Two weeks after the strange death of Florian Géraud, a 43-year-old from Ariège whose lifeless body was found in Paraguay, French justice took up the case. The Toulouse public prosecutor's office confirmed to La Dépêche du Midi the opening this week of a judicial investigation for "murder". The aim is to clarify the circumstances of the death of this amateur cameraman, who left for Paraguay to produce a report on the fate of the Guarani Indians. He was found dead in an abandoned building, with a rope around his neck, three days after disappearing.

Drought in the Mediterranean persists

The two families are disputing the ownership of several hundred objects linked to the artist, which Françoise Onténiente had offered at an auction in Drouot in October 2022.

Serge Cazzani had obtained an interim order banning this sale, and filed a criminal complaint for breach of trust. On the merits, another civil procedure, to determine who is the legitimate owner of this stock, had been initiated. The pre-trial judge decided on Wednesday that the civil proceedings would be able to continue, without being suspended by the criminal action, and set an appointment for May 16 for another procedural hearing, the substantive decision not being expected before 2025. The heir of Georges Brassens wants these objects to be exhibited at the Espace Brassens in Sète, and not sold to individuals.
